Student Activities Chapter Report - January 2020

The U of C Capstone Design project is progressing and beginning construction on their cooling tower design. SAIT Capstone project has also kicked off and there are 2 groups working on designing an evaporative cooler. All student groups are planning on presenting at March ASHRAE Dinner.

University of Calgary Student Branch hosted another successful event in November where they combined efforts with the Green Building Council and toured the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning at U of C. It was a great turn out with a lot of interesting questions. Thanks to Adam Stoker from the Office of Sustainability at U of C and Reagan Moffat from Smith and Andersen.

ASHRAE Scholarships also had submissions from the University of Calgary. A group of students are also working on the ASHRAE Design Challenge at the University of Calgary. Student Activities is planning a K-12 School event during the week of engineering week in February. With lots more exciting news, stay tuned or reach out if you want to get involved.
